Leaving WordPress: a simpler site you change yourself

Diese Seite ist noch nicht in Ihrer Sprache verfügbar — die englische Version wird angezeigt.

WordPress runs a huge part of the web, and it is already yours: you can host it anywhere. So the reason to leave is rarely ownership. It is everything around it — the plugin and theme updates, the conflicts they cause, the security patches, the page builder that makes every page heavy. We move your site to a simpler foundation with far less to maintain, keep your content and rankings, and teach you to change it yourself with AI.

Why businesses leave WordPress

  • Core, theme and plugin updates never stop, and someone has to keep up with them.
  • An update breaks the layout, a form or the checkout, and you find out from a customer.
  • Outdated plugins are a common way into WordPress sites, so skipping updates is not safe either.
  • Page builders add layers of code that make pages heavy and slow on phones.
  • Premium plugins, themes and a maintenance plan add up to a bill that keeps coming.

When WordPress is still the right choice

  • A large editorial team publishes every day and relies on roles and approval workflows in the admin panel.
  • Your business depends on a specialised plugin ecosystem — a large WooCommerce store with many extensions, for example — and it works well.
  • A developer or agency already keeps the site updated, and you are happy with the cost.

If that sounds like you, we will say so when you get in touch. The point is a site that serves your business, not moving everyone off WordPress.

What you get

  • A fast, modern website built for phones first.
  • A simple foundation with far fewer moving parts: no plugin stack and no page builder to keep updated.
  • Much less to patch, and much less for attackers to aim at.
  • Your forms, payments and analytics connected on the new site.
  • The search engine basics in place: page titles, descriptions, a sitemap.
  • One-on-one AI training, so you change and extend the site yourself with Claude Code.
  • Bonus: an AI automation plan for the rest of your business.

What stays the same

  • Your domain and your hosting account stay in your name.
  • Your content: pages, posts, images and products move over. Anything that changes is agreed with you first.
  • Your search rankings: we keep your post and page addresses where we can and redirect the ones that change, so Google and your visitors land in the right place.
  • Your email: moving the website does not move your mailboxes.

How the move works

  1. Analysis

We go through your pages, posts, plugins and integrations, and list what each plugin actually does for you and what replaces it.

  2. Concept

We agree on the structure, the look and what changes, before anything is built.

  3. Build and move

We build the new site, move the content, set up redirects and switch the domain over. Your WordPress site keeps working until the switch.

  4. Training

About three one-hour one-on-one sessions on your own site, until updating it with AI feels easier than the admin panel ever did.

Price

$450 on the Solo plan, fixed, whatever the size of the site. It usually takes two to four weeks, is paid upfront, and you get a 100% refund on request. If several people will update the site, the Team plan trains up to 15 of them for $1,900. Hosting and the domain stay paid by you, in your own name — and many small sites run on free or low-cost hosting once WordPress is gone.

Frequently asked questions

Is WordPress a bad choice?

No. It is a good fit for large editorial teams and for sites built around its plugin ecosystem. For a small business site that one person looks after, it is often far more machinery than the site needs, and that machinery has to be maintained.

I am used to the admin panel. How will I edit the site?

You tell Claude Code what you want changed, in plain language — a new page, a new price, a new section — and check the result before it goes live. The training is about exactly that, on your own site.

Will I lose my Google rankings?

Not if the move is done carefully. We keep existing addresses where possible and set up permanent redirects for the rest, so the value your pages have built up carries over.

What about my WooCommerce store?

Products, categories and images move over. For payments, shipping and other extensions, we agree during the analysis what replaces each one. If the store depends on many specialised extensions, we will tell you honestly whether moving is worth it.

How much does it cost and how long does it take?

$450 on the Solo plan, fixed, whatever the size of the site. Usually two to four weeks, with a 100% refund on request.
