I built YourLastDev after solving the same problem in my own projects

For more than 20 years I have been on the same side of the table as you: the person with a product, a budget and a dependency on developers. YourLastDev is what I learned when I finally got out of that dependency — packaged so that you can do the same.

Hi, I am Sergiy

Sergiy Yashchenko

Founder of YourLastDev · Product Owner / CEO / Product Manager · Ukraine

I am an IT entrepreneur with more than twenty years of building products. I have been a product owner, a product manager and a CEO, and I have worked with many development teams — in-house, outsourced and freelance. My background is product and business: deciding what to build, what to cut, and what a product has to do for the business behind it.

Twenty years of my own products

My first horse-related web project went live in 2006. Over the years it grew into several equestrian ventures — a news portal, a forum, a magazine, a tack shop and a horse agent service — and eventually into HorSense Innovations, a company building online tools for the equestrian world. Alongside that I work on Streamster, free live-streaming software with cloud multistreaming, on the web and on mobile.

The problem I kept running into

Running this many products taught me something uncomfortable: owning a product and being able to change it are two different things. Again and again I ran into the same problems:

  • Every small change meant a ticket, a wait and another invoice.
  • Good ideas stayed on the shelf because there was no development budget for them.
  • When a developer or a team left, the knowledge of how the product worked left with them.
  • Much of the budget went into keeping things alive rather than making them better.
  • I owned the products, but I could not change a thing in them myself.

I assumed that was simply the price of having software. It turned out it no longer has to be.

What changed when I moved my projects to AI

When AI coding assistants became genuinely capable, I started moving my own projects to AI-assisted work — first carefully, then completely. Today I build and maintain my products with Claude Code. horses.sale and move.horse are built and run this way: multilingual, with payments and user accounts, live in production.

The difference is not only speed. Changes that used to wait for a developer now happen the same day. I understand my products again, because I can ask about any part of them and get a straight answer. And the dependency is gone: the products are simpler, their accounts are in our name, and they no longer belong to whoever happened to write the code.

Why I share it

Most business owners I talk to are exactly where I was: paying to keep a product alive that they cannot change themselves. The tools that got me out of that are available to everyone — what is missing is someone to set things up properly and show you how to use them on your own product.

So that is what YourLastDev does. I analyze your business, design the architecture and build the foundation — the part that really needs experience — and then teach you to build the rest yourself with AI. The goal is unusual for a developer: to make myself unnecessary for everyday work, while staying by your side when you need help. That is also why the prices are fixed — the business is built on doing a project well once, not on keeping you dependent.

The same works beyond a single owner. In any company, the people who know the work best — marketing, sales, operations — are the ones who know which tools they are missing. With a solid foundation and some training, they can build those tools themselves instead of waiting in a developer backlog. That is why YourLastDev has plans for teams and larger companies, not only for solo founders.

What I bring to your project

  • Twenty years of product decisions — knowing what to build, and just as importantly, what to leave out.
  • Experience with many development teams, and a clear view of where software projects usually go wrong.
  • Daily, hands-on AI-assisted development on my own live products — not theory.
  • A business owner's perspective: every decision is weighed against what it costs you and what it earns you.
  • Personal training: I train every client myself, on their own product.

Frequently asked questions

Who will I actually work with?

With me. I analyze your business, design the architecture, lead the build of the foundation, and personally train you or your team to build on it with AI.

Where are you based?

In Ukraine.

Why would a developer want to make himself unnecessary?

Because that is what I needed as a product owner, and what I could never find. The price is fixed and there is no retainer, so I have no reason to make your product complicated or to keep you dependent. Unnecessary for everyday changes does not mean gone: when you need help, I am here.

Do you only work with horse-industry or streaming businesses?

No. Those are my own products. YourLastDev works with any business that has — or needs — a website, a web app or internal tools: from solo founders to teams and larger companies.
